Located in the city of Agra in the Northern part of India, Taj Mahal is one of its greatest tourist attractions. The architecture of Taj Mahal is not only beautiful but it is also a unique specimen of the combination of Mughal, Italian Persian and traditional Muslim art and architecture. All parts of Taj Mahal speak about the uniqueness of traditional Mughal art and architecture. The wonderful use of white marbles in the main monument and crenelated red sand stones in the main gateway of Taj Mahal would surely strike you by silence.

The main gateway of Taj Mahal in itself is a huge building and one of the its most beautiful parts. There major attractions of the main gateway are the crenelated red sandstone walls on its threes ides. The side facing the river is open. Outside the walls of the main gateway of Taj Mahal, there are several mausoleums that include tombs of Shah Jahan's other wives. The larger tomb that you would get to see here is of Mumtaz's favorite servant.
All the structures inside and outside the main gateway of Taj Mahal are built entirely of red sandstone. The garden facing inner sides of the main gateway are fronted by columned arcades, which is a common feature of typical Hindu temples that were later transformed into mosques. However, the architectural designs are not the only attractions of the structure. Wonderful calligraphy, decorations with floral motifs are also major attractions of the main gateway of Taj Mahal.
