Situated on the tranquil banks of the Yamuna river,the city of Agra unleashes a whole new world which reminds one of the bygone era of the Mughals. Located on the western side of Taj Mahal, The Mosque is faced towards Mecca and is used for prayer. The small stone enclosure along the western boundary wall of the The Mosque where the well of the Mosque is also located. There is also a pristine sylvan structure within the premises of the Mosque,where the remains of Mumtaz Mahal were deposited when first brought to Agra. The Mosque
has pietra dura work twining across its spandrels which lies outside the premises of the building,again the red sandstone platform is a great attraction for tourists.All over there is exquisite calligraphy and the name Allah and quotations from scriptures inscribed in The Mosque . There is also a glitzy marble platform within the sacred building. On either side of the Mosque, there are two towers,one to the north and the other to the south all within the enclosed boundary.

The Jawab lying on the eastern side of Taj Mahal,is yet another alluring tourist attraction,and a perfect replica of the The Mosque built out of red sandstone. Etymologically meaning Answer in the Urdu Dictionary,it is a parallel structure or rather a twin of the Mosque. Although it resembles The Mosque in its exterior,The Jawab does not contain the accessories which go with a mosque, and, instead of Koranic inscriptions, there are beautiful flower designs and other decoration effectively done in white marble in the backdrop of red sandstone.
