Mathura is the birthplace of Lord Krishna according to Indian mythology. Vrindavan was once the quaint village where Krishna spent his youth. The city of Vrindavan is located 15 km away from Mathura which is the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Being such an important place for the Hindus, there are many temples. The faith in the Lord Krishna is not limited to the people of India. There are many people of foreign nationalities who are so enthralled by the tales of Krishna that they cannot resist visiting Vrindavan. It is one of the tourist site near Agra that attracts tourist from world wide. It is dotted with temples that are mostly of Krishna and other Hindu deities as well.
According to legend, Vrindavan was the place where the Lord Krishna used to come with his numerous girlfriends and especially Radha whom he wooed. He sang and danced with them in the forests. His playing of the flute was so irresistible that girls flocked to him. However it is believed that he loved Radha more than everyone. It is still believed by people that the Lord still resides in the city. Hence is one of the sacred places of the Hindu religion. Vrindavan comes alive during the birthday of Krishna which is known as Janmashthami.

Vrindavan has famous temples like the Krishna Balrama Mandir, Dwarkadish Temple, Radha Damodara Temple, Radha Madan Mohan Temple, Rangaji Temple and many more. Most of the temples have beautiful architecture and some are more than one century old. Each of the temples have their own legend attached to it. Some are said to be the ones where the Lord Krishna performed many divine feats. On the birthday of the Lord Krishna, the temples are decorated with flowers and natural colors. Special prayers and various delicacies that are his favorite are offered. Such is the surreal beauty of Vrindavan that some people believe that there is still the same frolicking in the woods by Lord Krishna and his girlfriends.
