Henceforth began the second significant phase of the history of Taj Mahal, when Shah Jahan appointed a tremendous work labor of about twenty thousand workers under the supervision of the main architect Muhammad Hanif and the Persian architect Ustad Isa to construct the beautiful mausoleum. Twenty two years later and after the spending of thirty two million rupees eventually the Taj was given shape in the year 1648 according to what the emperor had conceived it as. But the saddest part of the events took place when he was arrested by his own son Aurangzeb and kept in captivity in the Agra Fort. But it was only after his death, he was reunited with his lost love within the womb of the mausoleum where, even today, the bodies and soul of the two great lovers lie in peace and eternal harmony.
